I also have Acronis Disk Director 11 which was originally installed on this computer running Windows 7. Since that time I upgraded from 7 to 8 to carrying. The solution is to uninstall every Acronis product from the machine – I used the normal uninstall methods but you, also, have to use. You run installation of Acronis Disk Director 12 build ; You press “Check for updates” button. “SSL connection has failed” error appears.

Also tried newest builds but nothing. DD12 has never installed successfully. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit fully updated and it runs flawlessly. This then prompted me to enter the Acronis product code in hexadecimal format which I do not have.
