May 9, 2024 – St. John’s, NL:  Mining Industry NL proudly welcomes Amanda McCallum as its new Executive Director, effective immediately. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, McCallum emerges as a transformative leader in the mining and minerals sectors, poised to drive forward the strategic agenda of one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s vital industries. With a wealth of experience, McCallum has navigated through both private and public sectors, demonstrating her proficiency across various aspects of the mining domain. Whether leading prospect generation and exploration initiatives or enhancing investment appeal, her versatile skill set epitomizes a steadfast dedication to driving industry progress. Graduating from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Bachelor of Education, McCallum further honed her acumen by earning a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Schulich School of Business, York University. Additionally, her credentials include completing the Directors Education Program, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Amanda’s appointment underscores our dedication to pioneering leadership, innovation, and collaboration.”

Acknowledging the contributions of McCallum’s predecessor, the Board of Directors extends gratitude to former Executive Director Ed Moriarity, whose legacy serves as a cornerstone for future endeavors.

With McCallum at the helm, Mining Industry NL embarks on a new chapter of growth, resilience, and innovation, poised to reinforce its position as a global leader in sustainable resource development.
